                    “The Queensbridge Queen”
While the music industry wonders if female rappers have become an endangered species, a movement has been brewing in Jamaica, Queens. At only 21 years of age, she’s amassed a catalog of over 250 songs; has collaborated with some of the most respected names out of the notorious Queensbrige housing projects, where she grew up; and is rapidly becoming a favorite on the mixtape circuit. Not since the days of Lite, Love and the Queen has Hip-Hop had so much to look forward to in a female artist. Prepare for the one-woman force of nature that is Nazarine. Influenced by true writing talents ranging from Otis Redding and Betty Wright to Jay-Z and Queen Latifah, Nazarine prides herself on being a true lyricist. Not only does she manage to effectively paint a portrait of her own pain, struggles and truth through her words, she has the uncanny ability to make those words relatable to any listener, regardless of gender, race or social status. That mastery of the art of storytelling comes from years of practice. As a youngster in Queensbridge, she overcame a series of obstacles that both molded her as a young woman and she recalls. Before long, her book of rhymes became more than a way to vent, as she used it as a     therapeutic escape from her day-to-day life. With her family relocating to Jamaica in her late teens, Nazarine started honing her craft. She first emerged on the scene in 2001 under the moniker Nik. Before long, she was in the studio alongside the likes of Nas, Nature, Big Noyd and other QB heavy weights. With success all around her, she learned the ins and outs of the industry, managing to stay focused and grounded as she carved out her career path. Through her own perseverance and grind, she quickly landed a spot as a featured MC on BET’s Hits From The Streetz, and even went on tour with Mobb Deep. After a brief hiatus, Nazarine returned in 2006 as a businesswoman in full control of her image, artistry and future. Having reconnected with platinum producer Jimi Kendrix, a childhood friend, she immediately hit the studio to work on material for her forthcoming debut, The Mary Magdalene Story. This young Renaissance woman also proved her worth with a win at New York City’s legendary Monday night Fight Klub, adding a win at the legendary underground arena to her already impressive list of credentials. In January 2007, she began a massive mixtape/mixshow promotion campaign. In less than two months, the streets had spoken: with coveted spots on mixtapes by King Smij, DJ Cool Kev, DJ White Owl and Stackhouse Recordings, the Nazarine Movement became national. 2011 she hook up with PurfekStorm Management through a mutual friend Clanrence “DU” Williams aka Draws who stood behind her career doing the time was needed the most in her career. Next stop: the world!
